SFO-Beijing-Ulan Bator

I’m sitting in Ulan Bator AIrport right now to start the next leg of my adventure which will be to vist my friend Bashir’s gym in Lahore, Pakistan. Bashir Ahmed is considered the grandfather of MMA in Pakistan and is a ONE FC fighter.

Just a quick catchup. The flight from SFO to Beijing was nothing special. The transfer process at the airport is very confusing and the language difficulty made it a bit harder.

After visiting a couple of counters I found I had to get a 72 hour visa after proof of itinerary. The point of confusion is that even though Mongolia is another separate country, the flight from Beijing to Ulan Bator is out of the DOMESTIC Terminal (3).

So after about 1-1.5 hours I made it to the check in gate. It was a good thing that there was a 6 hour gap between flights.

There weren’t too many people on the flight. I met a fellow American from Denver, Colorado at the gate. He was a young US Marine who was stationed in South China and Transferring to Ulan Bator. He let me use his pen to fill out the customs form on the flight because I had to unexpectedly check my back pack in on MIAT Mongolian airways due to weight limit.
